The garage tends to quickly become a junkyard that is used to hold all the junk that can't fit into the house. A garage conversion can help you transform the garage into a livable space by redoing the interiors, partitioning the garage, adding heating and air conditioning systems to make a complete family room, home office or even an extra bedroom. You can even convert your garage into a hobby room, a workshop, or a music studio. Take space constraints into consideration before converting your garage to a family room or bedroom.
When you plan your garage addition, make sure you have a clear picture of what you want to use your garage for. For instance, if you're looking to convert your garage into a home theater, expect additional expenses on electrical wiring to support the new system. If you're converting your garage into a kitchen, plumbing and electrical fixtures will be needed. A garage kitchen addition will involve the installation of heavy duty appliances like deep freezers, and these may demand additional wiring requirements. Always remember to include a small storage closet in your garage to be used for storage.
Before beginning your garage addition project, make sure you have all necessary Morris County, NJ area building permits in place. Some areas may not allow garages to be used for certain purposes. If there are emergency exit requirements, these will have to be met too. Take care of such legal or structural formalities before you begin your garage conversion project.

We own an old home (1942) near downtown / heights area, around 1110 sq. ft. We have plenty of room on our lot to add a master suite in the place of our second driveway, we would also like to add on the utility to have it inside the home instead of out in the garage. I have plans drawn up but need blueprints done, I am an interior designer so I have a pretty good idea of what I want but am definitely open to idea's / changes. We are excited about making this addition to our home sometime in the next year, we'll have to before we have a second child. I feel that I need to get the ball rolling now so we know what we're talking about time wise and money wise. Please call / contact me with any questions. thank you.
